Bike to the Future is a work based skills training project, based in Newtown, Mid-Wales.
We use the repair and maintenance of bicycles as a means of supporting people to gain transferrable skills. Accreditation for the skills demonstrated is delivered through Agored Cymru units, in partnership with the Workers Education Association.

Bicycles are sourced through Potters Waste Management, Dyfed Powys Police, and community donation. Once in good repair bicycles are either offered for sale, or as participant incentive. Certainly people who access Bike to the Future can expect to have the opportunity to ride home after their time with the project with a working bicycle, and the skills to keep it that way.

Bike to the Future intends to offer a children’s bike swap scheme, and the occasional cycle amnesty, in an attempt to get underused bicycles back into action.
The project will repair and maintain owned bicycles, and also will offer a Dr Bike surgery. Not only will this promote cycling, but will also offer its participants the opportunity to engage with customer facing skills.
